Books Ship Quick

I just realized today marks one week till Christmas! Yikes!  Good thing books ship quickly!  I promised you a post with our book recommendations but I haven't had much time to put it together.  So today I lined up all of our "young reader" books in the hallway and asked Lilly and Beau to pick out their top 5 books/series which, of course, turned into their top 7 or 8.

But before I give you those lists, I have to tell you about the work of art my two are looking at in this picture.  It is the newly released pop-up book by Mathew Reinhart, Pixar: A Pop-Up Celebration.   I became a fan of Reinhart's work when I discovered his genius Lego Pop-Up book last Christmas. So I was excited to find out this one would be released for this Holiday!  If your family is a fan of Pixar's endearing movies, this book is like taking a walk down memory lane.  I guess I can describe it as an artistic history book of your family's favorite movies and for us, it reminded us of the moments that came along each of those movies.  Each film has it's own creative pop-up and even the shorts are featured, my favorite pop-up of the 19 movies is Cars 3 (if you get the book, you'll know why).

Reinhart also has a YouTube channel where he offers tutorials on the art of the pop-up! And here are a few more of his amazing book creations, if you're still looking for something special and mesmerizing.

Now, let's talk about Lilly's List.  She's 10 and she started to enjoy reading in 2nd grade and it has become one of her favorite things to do.  She has read all of the books on her list and I have NOT read any of them.  So this is not a parent's list, this is her recommendation of her favorites in order:
  1. Land of Stories Series by Chris Colfer
  2. Junie B. Jones, First Grader Series by Barbara Park
  3. Finley Flowers Series by Jessica Young
  4. Wonder and Auggie and Me by R.J. Palacio
  5. Diary of A Wimpy Kid Series by Jeff Kinney
  6. Whatever After Series by Sarah Mlynowski
  7. Mr. Terrupt Series by Rob Buyea

And Beau's List, he's 7 and started enjoying reading on his own last spring.  He has read all of the books on his list and I have read some.  This is a completely kid created list and these are his favorites in order:
  1. Bunjitsu Bunny Series by John Himmelman
  2. Pixar: A Pop-Up Celebration and Lego Pop-Up by Mathew Reinhart
  3. Bird & Squirrel Series by James Burks
  4. Haggis & Tank by Jessica Young
  5. Captain Underpants Series by Dav Pilkey
  6. Ball Park Mysteries by David A. Kelly
  7. Diary of an 8 Bit Warrior by Cube Kid
  8. The Boys Book of Adventure by Michele LeCreux

Now before you go, here are a few books on My list.  I've bought for myself and/or for others and have loved them:

I started this post on Monday with a week till Christmas, now it's Tuesday with one less day. Ha! Books are the best and they ship quick and save our serenity. :)
